Why rain makes me happy

Rain always makes me feel the same way, happy and relaxed. If you haven’t figured it out yet, then I will tell you exactly why rain makes me so happy.

It could be because of how soft and comforting the sound of rain hitting the window makes me feel or maybe it’s because it keeps me inside.

So I can relax or maybe it’s because I love rainy days because they make my hair look amazing but whatever the reason may be, I just can’t get enough of rain!

I love the sound

As a self-described auditory learner, one of my favorite things about rain is that it’s so easy to hear.

Listening to rain falling against my windowsill helps me relax and concentrate.

It’s almost like white noise for my brain; even during an exam, I could listen to the patter of rain and know if I heard something unusual.

When it rains outside, there are no other sounds competing with it. This makes me feel peaceful and calm—and happy!

I love going outside in it

when it rains, I don’t have to walk on main roads, which makes me feel safer.

And I love seeing rain hitting leaves and trees; it reminds me of a painting by Georgia O’Keeffe.

Plus, you can go outside with minimal effort!

You can easily dress to avoid getting wet or just wear a raincoat if you want to embrace it.

It’s also a great time for reading: since I was little, I loved going out in my backyard and lying down in my hammock while reading books.

It feels like being transported into another world...and that feeling never gets old! So yeah, rain is awesome.

But what do you think? Let me know in the comments below :)

When I am sick, I look forward to it

I’ve had several colds in my life, and what I look forward to each time is getting to stay home and see it rain outside.

 I really love watching storm clouds roll in and darken up a room;

what I don’t love is that moment right before it starts pouring when you get a few sprinkles of rain. It’s as if Mother Nature says Okay!

Now we are going to have some fun!

That’s always my favorite part: after she decides she’s ready to play. And then it pours.

Sometimes so hard you can barely see out your window (which is exactly how I like it). It makes me feel cozy inside like nothing else can happen for a while—

And that’s okay with me. A lot of people say they hate rainy days because they want sunshine or at least something interesting happening outside their windows—but not me!

The way it smells

When rain falls, it brings with it an invigorating scent of freshness and life.

It’s not uncommon to feel revitalized when rain showers hit you after a long day at work.

The pleasant smell is something you can’t help but enjoy, especially when you’re feeling dreary after a long dry spell.

If your job requires you to spend hours on end in front of a computer screen, there’s nothing like getting rained on as a break from your daily routine.

Plus, taking time to go outside and appreciate nature will give you more appreciation for all that exists around us.

In fact, some studies have found that spending time in nature helps reduce stress levels by as much as 68 percent!

There is less stress on rainy days

When it rains, we are more likely to stay at home. And sometimes that’s what we need because rainy days are less stressful than other days.

It’s not just about staying inside and being lazy in front of the TV or computer; on rainy days, we can do all kinds of things:

We can read, we can draw something to make us creative again, or even make a photo album of our special moments with friends or family.

The rain makes us feel safe and warm. As if we were wrapped by a big blanket.

Even though there is an umbrella outside, it doesn’t mean you won’t get wet when you walk in puddles or when someone splashes water on your face from their car window!

But who cares? The rain is so nice to watch! We don’t want to miss anything! If you have kids, try playing with them in the rain!

There is something about rain and holidays (Eid)

A sense of intimacy that is only reached when we are surrounded by family, a sharp reminder of our mortality, and a deep-seated longing for something greater.

For many, rain brings us joy—it’s an added value to our lives.

If you aren’t one of those people who rejoice in rainy days, then perhaps you haven’t seen how much it can add to your life.

Here are some ways that rain makes me happy:

This is an idea I had based on a conversation with my mom about how Eid holidays have changed since she was younger.

Smell of laundry

No, I'm not particularly crazy about clothes getting wet.

What I love is that rain makes me feel like I have an excuse to stay inside and do nothing. That being said, what smells better than fresh laundry?

If you're in a sunny part of the world (like California), it might be kind of hard to relate, but try imagining how great those sheets must smell after a few days on your bed when you walk into your house after it's been raining for days.

To beat boredom, there are rainy games you can play...

There are plenty of games that you can play inside on a rainy day.

Here are just a few ideas to get you started. If you’re looking for more suggestions, check out some other indoor game lists and let us know what games we missed in our comments!

And don't forget: if it's really nasty outside (you might even need an umbrella), consider playing a board game with friends or family.

Rainy Days Are Better Than Sunny Ones 😉

I’m a better person on rainy days.

There, I said it. Don’t look at me like that—

I have plenty of reasons for saying it too!

Okay, here goes ... I’m more productive. Less people are out and about on rainy days.

And who wants to be out there in all that slosh?

No one, that’s who! So you can bet your bottom dollar (which is probably worth less than a penny today) that I’ll be holed up with my laptop, hammering away at my next bestseller.

And if you think about it, isn’t writing always better when you aren’t distracted by pesky things like sunlight or fresh air? Of course, it is!
